About The Event

Thursday, December 21st marks this year’s Winter Solstice, the Northern Hemisphere’s shortest day and longest night of the year. The Sun, our source of life, light and energy, is furthest from our skies. The progressively shortening days and absence of light could be felt as a depressing situation, inspiring melancholy, lethargy and wistfulness. But from a more empowered perspective they can also be felt as a call to gain confidence in and excavate one's own inner light. Some have philosophized that the outer sun, that nourishes our planet and creates the conditions for life on Earth, is a metaphor for the inner sun that leads to enlightenment. This year let the darkness of the shortest days of the year inspire you to discover, uncover and recover the ‘effulgent, sorrowless light’ that is buried within … eternally present and yearning to brightly shine.

Our daily practices will include time-honored yogic techniques…

“Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again , come , come.”
