This one's personal. The diagnostic shock has worn off as the battle rages on. My sister, Jennifer, has been diagnosed with cancer that the doctor said cannot be cured but can be managed. She's undergone 6 rounds of chemo so far. Her spirit is strong, even as the cumulative effects of the toxic treatments seem to hit her harder each time. She is planning to go back to work next month (God Bless!), and we're all just taking it as it comes. Fortunately she received a grant that helps cover the copays and deductibles, and many of you have generously donated to the GoFundMe we launched a little bit ago. And still, the fear of future costs looms large. What if she can't keep her job? Could she afford to pay the cost of COBRA? What if she needs surgery? Could she lose her house? Thoughts like these come haunting…
